Phoenix Mayet is a conceptual artist and photographer.  Her work addresses issues related to gender, trauma, memory and identity.  Her current projects include photographs and collages examining our collective visual memory of conflict photography, and pornographic images that explore the limits of censorship and sexual expression.

 

Mayet’s work has been exhibited throughout Northern New England, including: in Boston MA, Gallery Kayafas and Bromfield Gallery, and The Museum of Art, UNH in Durham NH.

 

Mayet holds degrees in English and Poetry from Cornell University and the University of New Hampshire and studied photography at the New England School of Photography. She lives and works in the NH Seacoast area, maintaining a studio at the Washington St. Mill in Dover, NH.
